Virginia comedian Quincy Carr had a successful return to his home town of Austin, Texas, when he was invited to host the fourth annual Urban Music Fest on April 4, 2009. With nearly twelve hours of continuous entertainment, the sun wasn’t the only source of heat for the record approximately ten thousand in attendance on this beautiful spring day.
Quincy kept the large crowd entertained between music acts with his clean, family-appropriate comedy. Through his “‘Sleep at The Light” routine, many in the audience were left holding their sides from laughter. That particular routine, during which Quincy uses ‘80s music to demonstrate what could happen when falling asleep at a red light, has quickly become a crowd favorite.
National music acts The Sugar Hill Gang, Boyz II Men, and Cameo hit the stage, and the Urban Music Fest came to a close just after Quincy informed the record crowd that there had not been a single criminal incident during the entire day. Positive times like that guarantee that family events such as the Urban Music Fest will continue for years to come… and Quincy looks forward to being a part of it, and many others, in the future!
