On Wed. May 15, 2013, the ‘Quality Comedy Series’ presented its first ever all female line-up. Despite the negativity, Quincy pitched the idea to the club manager, saying “May is when we celebrate Mother’s Day; but I think the entire month should be dedicated to women in entertainment!” Quincy soon began to assemble an All Star line up consisting of local jazz / R&B artist Delores Pruitt-Polite (D Dutchess) of Phenomenal Sounds for the preshow festivities. Then for the main course (comedy) part of the show, he was able to book 3 great female acts all w/ different styles to entertain this evenly balanced packed house, eager to see what ‘The Female Takeover’ buzz was all about!
Opening Act, Angelica Mackey, got a taste of what performing at a 5 star comedy venue is like. In return she left the audience wondering how far she could go in her early comedy career from leaving them laughing about the different alias’s people use on Facebook. Then the show’s feature, Joy Julian Thechesapeakecharmer, took the stage. People loved her “Chesapeake Charmer” type of humor and her energy as she came out and danced to a hot Beyonce track. The crowd was rolling at her description of her mother missing her calling to be a downhill skier, LOL!. Finally, Erin Jackson, (NBC’s ‘Last Comic Standing’ & Comedy Central), capped the night off with her hilarious material about losing 30 pounds, and her terrible love life as her last boyfriend tried to break up with her on Facebook… while they were still living together! Quincy Carr hosted and kept the laughs coming with a hilarious Mother’s Day video (below) to start the show and during the show while drawing raffle tickets (given to early bird arrivals) for the FREE door prizes.
The show was such a success, Quincy has already started planning for May 2014!
